Blossoming at W&H
This headline might make you think ‘a bit exaggerated’. But when you learn a little more about Liselott Fornell's story, it all makes more sense. The colleague from Osstell, a W&H company in Gothenburg, used to want to be a florist. Today she works in finance and human resources, which is an excellent combination of two aspects that are important to Liselott and also builds a bridge to her childhood career goal aspirations.
"I love the bright colours and like to see the beauty behind things. You put different things together and see the great end result. I can create something." These are just some of the reasons why Liselott Fornell originally wanted to be a florist. At first glance, you might not see any similarities to her current job in finance and HR, but if you look closer, that's exactly what Liselott found at Osstell and W&H: "In HR, I love getting to know people and support them. In a way, just like with flowers, I see people grow professionally and personally. That's what I really enjoy," Liselott explains the area that sets her apart. "And in Finance, I find it fascinating how everything comes together. Ultimately, this is where you have the best overview of the organisation and understand holistic processes. Everything comes together here in the end,' she continues.
Osstell has been part of the W&H Group since 2018 and its products help to quickly and easily determine which implants can be restored and which require additional healing time and make implantation procedures even safer. "I've been with Osstell since 2007 when it wasn't even part of the W&H Group. During my time, there have been 3 different owners. At one point we were even a listed company. So I also had different ways of working in finance," our colleague sums up the different structures. Of course, the processes change depending on the type of company. Who sparked her interest in the subject? "One of my teachers saw potential in me and encouraged me in that direction. That was actually the main reason. He was able to convey it very well," another parallel to Liselott's current work. Imparting knowledge and expertise in such a way that is remembered, also is common practice at Osstell and W&H.
The fact that this approach works even better when you can also contribute acquired expertise and benefit from swarm knowledge has become even more important to her thanks to a new project: "The current project is so exciting and challenging because it's not just about the processes or the system. It's also about new things and training new employees. You learn so much when you step out of your comfort zone and at the same time feel so safe in the team. It makes you realise that you can do it. It feels like you can reach anything here in a good atmosphere." What Liselott particularly appreciates is the internationality and the excellent cooperation not only between different nations, but also between different areas: "I feel very connected to W&H and I think we show that it is really important that we are a ‘we’ because we are a unity. It is something special in a company of this kind that the managing director, for example, is involved. And to come back to the flowers – we need a perfect atmosphere and the opportunity to grow, which is why the professional environment is so important", which Liselott believes is created at W&H.
