Lend the dental world an ear:
W&H launches podcast
Podcasts are currently one of the most popular media. Forecasts also see steadily growing potential. A trend that is no longer unknown and is also gaining popularity in the dental industry. Now the new W&H video podcast ‘Gum & Tonic’ offers the audience a listening experience that is not only professionally relevant but also personally exciting. Available on Spotify since 12.12.2024.
In the first season of ‘Gum & Tonic’, the medical technology manufacturer W&H brings inspiring personalities from the dental industry to the podcast microphone for a total of four times. The focus is on a balanced relationship between expertise, product knowledge, good humour and insights into the highlights and challenges of everyday practice. Always changing: the backdrop against which the conversations are recorded.
Taking the listening experience to a new level
‘It was important to us to create a video podcast that does not yet exist in this form and combines both: professional know-how in a relaxed and elegant atmosphere, in order to talk with our guests about personal experiences,’ says Andreas Brandstätter, host of the first season and W&H Product Director, explaining the decision to choose a rooftop bar in Salzburg as one of the recording locations. ‘We create an environment in which our experts feel comfortable and where humour and expertise are equally important. The challenge was to make what is visibly audible. That's what we achieved,’ he continues, explaining the special features of the podcast.
Episode 1: with a wealth of expertise
PD Dr Amely Hartmann, the first guest of the W&H video podcast, talks in the premiere episode about women in the dental industry, science and research, influential personalities and how working as a specialist dentist for oral surgery can be combined well with family. ‘People who support you, who believe in you – I can only recommend that to everyone,’ says Dr Hartmann, describing an important pillar for her professional success. In addition to a strong family environment and the support behind it, it is also essential to continue training, to have mentors at your side and to benefit from each other's expertise. As a member of Dentista e. V., she recognises the importance of good networking. The association relies on female experts and their expertise in modern dentistry. She recently received the Karl Ludwig Ackermann Prize for her work in the field of clinical studies on the topic of ‘Long-term results in three-dimensional, complex bone augmentation procedures with patient-specific titanium lattices’ and advises young colleagues: ‘Stay on the ball, never stop learning and never forget to have fun in your profession.’
