W&H at the EAO congress in Paris
The latest research and current technological trends in implantology were the main focus of the annual congress of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO), held from 29th September to 1st October 2016. More than 3,000 visitors gathered at the Palais des Congrès de Paris to find out at first-hand about the latest product news and take part in interactive scientific sessions and discussions.
New Implantmed sets a benchmark in implantology
With the presentation of the new Implantmed, which provides supporting functions for the surgical team, W&H made an impact at the congress. Launched at the beginning of September 2016, the new Implantmed surgical unit attracted the attention of the professional and scientific community.
Thanks to cooperation with the Swedish medical technology company Osstell, the new Implantmed offers the option of an integrated system for assessing the stability of an implant and the degree of osseointegration, allowing users to benefit from an all-in-one solution to optimize treatment planning.
Being held for the 25th time, the EAO congress provided a platform for the international exchange between experts in the field of implant dentistry. The latest upgrade, the 4th generation Implantmed from W&H earned special attention as the new Implantmed stands for safety, ease of use and flexibility. With targeted product presentations, lively expert discussions, high-level lectures and interactive sessions W&H alongside Osstell were showing the benefits of the new surgical unit.

Implantmed with new customizable features
At the W&H booth the Product Managers Stefan Unterkircher and Andreas Lette as well as the team of W&H France were giving deeper insights into the latest functionalities of the Implantmed and its new customizable features. Particular attention was paid to the integration of the W&H Osstell ISQ module into the new Implantmed. Thanks to the cooperation with Osstell, W&H is now offering clinicians, for the first time, the option of continuously monitoring the status of osseointegration, thus, allowing them to better gauge the healing period and thereby optimizing the treatment time. This system allows the improved management of high risk patients. Under expert guidance interested clinicians took the opportunity to obtain a first-hand impression of the advantages of this new functionality.
Furthermore the high-tech colour touch screen with glass surface and the easy-to-understand guiding principles behind the user interface could be tested on-site. Another highlight was the new wireless foot control, which offers users more flexibility for their surgical environment. “W&H is the first provider in the world, which allows wireless control of multiple surgical devices with one foot control. This enables users to switch easily between different devices like our Implantmed and our piezo surgical device Piezomed during one treatment,” states Stefan Unterkircher. In addition to the new short Implantmed motor W&H offers the perfect balance with surgical straight and contra-angle handpieces, which offer the surgeon a wide range of options for different tasks, e.g. implant site preparation, implant insertion, osteotomies etc.. With live demonstrations the stand team of W&H gave congress visitors deeper insights into the correct clinical application of the W&H instruments.

Osstell Scientific Symposium
Advanced techniques in implant treatment were presented by cooperation partner Osstell at the Osstell Scientific Symposium, which took place on Thursday 29th of September. Held in conjunction with EAO 2016 the symposium provided more than 250 registered clinicians with insights into the non-invasive assessment of osseointegration and implant stability from internationally renowned implant specialists. The new Implantmed was part of the case presentation from Dr. Jörg Neugebauer, who gave exclusive insights into a safe implant treatment. In an interactive workshop he underlined the importance of the treatment time and a predictable outcome for the clinician as well as the patient.
Best functionality and maximum efficiency during treatment are a focus of the new Implantmed. Thanks to the cooperation with Osstell the new surgical device sets distinctive advantages in the field of implant stability measurement. The impressive visitor interest at the EAO congress was a clear proof of the high added-value which the new all-in-one solution brings to the field of modern implantology.
