Starting situation & initial considerations

Before I started using the Assistina, I was accustomed to maintaining our instruments by hand using oil spray. This was not always easy and the process distributed a large quantity of oil over the instrument. Over the long term, the oil consumption was several orders of magnitude greater than with the Assistina. I wanted a device that is easy, fast and safe to use, that is economical and also prevents the escape of oil during treatment. That is why I selected the Assistina. And it has paid off.

The product

The Assistina 301 plus is a device for instrument maintenance that distributes the cleaning solution and the oil over the instrument by air pressure. The cleaning programme can be started by a press of the button. It takes less than 40 seconds from start to finish. The device includes one tank for the cleaning solution and one for the oil. The levels in the tanks are shown on the front of the device. Oil consumption is optimised with the automatic oil dispenser. Excess oil is blown off by compressed air.

Use

The device is very easy to use.

For use with straight and contra-angle handpieces:

1. Insert the instrument; the head of the instrument must point down.
2. Close the cover.
3. Press the start button.
4. Once the programme has ended, remove the instrument. Now the instrument is ready for sterilisation.

For use with turbines

1. Attach the instrument to a suitable coupling.
2. Insert the instrument and coupling into the Assistina; the head of the instrument must point down.
3. Close the cover.
4. Press the start button.
5. Once the programme has ended, remove the instrument. Now the instrument is ready for sterilisation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I can say that I am very satisfied with the Assistina. Even though a device with multiple instrument attachments would sometimes be very practical, I would still purchase this product every time. It is easy to use, fast, reduces oil consumption, and it also reduces the risk of contamination of the treatment site with oil. Since we have been using the Assistina, we have reduced not only our costs for oil, but also the repair and maintenance costs for our instruments. Our instruments now last much longer than before.
